Youth Apologetic Conference “Present-day Christian”

 

Youth Apologetic Conference “Present-day Christian” of was held on Saturday on the 17th of March in the city of Kursk. It became an issue of great interest of the local youth and of the youth from the cities of Belgorod, Voronezh and Orel region. Quite big groups of young people from those regions came to participate in the conference.
The presence and participation of the representatives of Moscow Theological Seminary played an important role in filling the air with enthusiasm and encouragement which was felt by all participants of this conference.
Gennady Savin, Mdiv, who is an academic dean of MTS, presented his thesis on the themes: “Protestants: they are not against but for!” and “New translations of the Holy Scriptures: gains and loss”.
Nikolay Kornilov, Mdiv, who is a dean of pastoral faculty of MTS, presented the theme: “Challenges with interpretation of the Holy Scriptures”.
Yury Chubenko, Mdiv, a president of MTS, devoted his speech to the theme: “Christian and secular education in modern time”.
The presentation of the president of Spiritual renewal association Michael Cherenkov, PhD, held a lot of attention. His theme was “Christianity in the context of modern youth culture”.
There were other interesting presentations on the conference: “History and role of music in Christianity” by Elena Golovina, BA, from Christian Scientific Center (Simferopol), “Issues of Divine healing theology” by Alexander Spichak, and “Christian influence on life and work of Van Gog“ by Golovina Elena. .
Andrey Gursky shared an idea to establish Russian Apologetic Society. This idea was supported by the majority of the participants. It was decided to establish this society and many people became members. We hope that this society will play an important role in Russia in the future.
In summary it can be said that this conference and growing activity of the Society are viewed as a good sign of the enthusiasm and creative spirit of our Christian youth.
