“Yes” to faith and “no” to crisis! Christian Youth held an anti-crisis  Conference in the city of Orel.

There are different ways to celebrate May’s holidays. You can hardly see any celebration on streets, though the crisis is obvious. Nevertheless there are still people in Russia who see in this crisis new opportunities and even grateful to God for it. On the 2nd of May of 2009 young people form Orel, Kursk, Lipetsk, Voronezh, Tambov, Kaluga, Tula, Bryansk and Belgorod region got together in order to strengthen each other’s faith and learn from each other how to overcome the crisis. More than 500 young people said “No!” to the crisis and invited Jesus Christ to help them because even the most terrible events cannot outshine Him!

This conference was initiated by the group of Christian organizations: “Spiritual Renewal” Association, Scientific Biblical Center “Apologist”, Connect International Mission, Christian Center of Science and Apologetics, Union of Evangelical Baptists churches of Orel region and Youth Department of Russion Union of Evangelical Baptists.

The Conference “Personal Faith in time of global crisis” became the third in the series of conferences entitled “A Christian of our time”, which are called to awaken Christian youth and find answers to the most important challenges of the modern time. The organizers of the conferences formulated the idea for the youth in these words: “When everybody talks about the crisis, we talk about FAITH. True faith can do everything. It gives strength in times of testing. It encourages and inspire. It gives meaning to our lives. Do you have such faith? Faith which is living, personal and overcoming?”. Experience speakers (Alexey  Melnichuk, Pavel Begichev, Michael Cherenkov, Gennady Likhikh, Andrey Gursky, Michael Klimov and others) developed this idea. They spoke about how to use these circumstances for spiritual renewal and more effective ministry. There were also discussions, worshipping God and the concert of the Moscow music group “MirAtvorets”.
